Nural Cokcetin's presentation on the gut-boosting benefits of honey led to sweet success at the FameLab International Final at Cheltenham Science Festival on Thursday 8 June, earning her the title of joint runner-up! Nural is the first Australian contestant to reach runner-up position at the International Finals since the competition came to Australia in 2014.

Dr Nural Cokcetin and Daniel Bouzo are microbiologists working on some of the most exciting research into the medicinal properties of honey.

Nural is an acclaimed science communicator: she won FameLab Australia and was the runner up in FameLab International, the world's leading science communication competition.

In their joint presentation “Medicinal honey - not so alternative now” at the ABA 2019 Conference, they will explain how their work is helping us understand honey’s amazing relationship with microbes, and how it can be used to benefit the human body - both inside and out!
